Human-Wildlife Coexistence Through Wildlife Fertility Control
As human populations expand, conflicts between humans and wildlife have increased exponentially. Until recently, efforts to resolve such conflicts focused primarily on lethal population management including, but not limited to culls with firearms, archery equipment, traps and toxicants. In response to human health and safety, animal welfare and environmental concerns associated with traditional wildlife management practices, researchers began administering fertility control to species in various global landscapes in the 1980's.
Our Mission
The Botstiber Institute for Wildlife Fertility Control is a hub established to advance reproductive management as part of an integrated approach to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts worldwide through education, outreach, and engagement.

BIWFC will continue to serve as a trusted resource for impartial and evidence-based expertise, driving implementation of wildlife fertility control as a management tool where appropriate.
